Make a Difference
By supporting the Lighthouse Island Development Project, you join a community of leaders dedicated to preserving the legacy and shaping the future of sailing on Lake Minnetonka.
This project is only possible with significant philanthropic support from our community. Will you join us on this transformational journey to help secure the future of sailing on Lake Minnetonka?
Please complete the pledge form linked below to share your giving intentions. While a substantial portion of gifts must be received by the start of the project (currently projected for September 2026), you may consider a multi-year pledge to take advantage of two to three tax years between now and 2027.
You may give in a variety of ways: online credit card donation, check, donor-advised fund, stock transfer, or an IRA charitable rollover/qualified charitable distribution* (see below). All pledge forms are received directly by LHI Fundraising Chairs Mark Sigel and Hayley Hontos, ensuring your information remains confidential. All gifts to the Lighthouse Island Development Fund will be used solely for the Lighthouse Island Development Project, unless otherwise noted by the donor. If you have questions about donating, please contact Mike Hanley, LHI Future Finance Committee Chair, at 612-220-0609.
To recognize your contribution, donors have access to naming rights for the building and its key spaces. Please see the Case for Support for the full list of naming opportunities.
Lake Minnetonka Sailing School is a registered 501(c)3 organization. A fund has been established at LMSS to accept donations for the Lighthouse Island Development Project. Your donation is tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law. Please consult your tax advisor for further information.
* Qualified Charitable Distributions: Federal law allows people age 70½ or older to make direct transfers up to $108,000 per year per person to charitable organizations from their Individual Retirement Account (IRA), without the withdrawal being treated as taxable income. The withdrawal can be counted toward your Required Minimum Distribution. Contact your IRA administrator to make a charitable rollover gift.
